Review of Getresponse In 2024
GetResponse claim to be the easiest newsletter tool available, with a load of pro features. This is a big claim, especially as their prices are so competitive. Globally, the Polish-based company say they reach 183 countries with more than 350,000 customers.
You might have looked at some GetResponse reviews left by individual users online, and although those are pretty positive, they might not give you the whole picture. Our review of GetResponse is based on a methodological approach and uses our practical experience and knowledge of dozens of other simple and advanced marketing automation tools.
Featurewise, however, GetResponse certainly has far more than most in the email marketing game. From custom landing pages to advanced automation and reporting features, you're hard-pushed to find something they don't offer.
The landing pages are one of the most interesting facts since they are part of a unique feature called Conversion Funnel, which takes care of lead generation-even serving as an online store where you process payments.
Another feature worth mentioning is the marketing automation that you get with GetResponse. You can now create quite advanced automated campaigns based on specific triggers/conditions, including sales and even location. Other tools do offer automation, but most are either not as powerful or not quite as user-friendly. You'll also get plenty of detailed templates to get you started.
Acquiring Recostream, a company that develops and deploys AI/ML-powered personalized recommendations technology, GetResponse can now offer this technology for product recommendations via AI. What this means is that the behavior, preferences, needs, and habits of your website visitors are analyzed and used for tailored recommendations. Pretty cool!
And while on AI, they've introduced an Open AI GPT-powered email generator. That recommends content to users for their email copy and subject lines. This is available on all of their paid plans.

The main paid pricing plans of GetResponse include Email Marketing, Marketing Automation, Ecommerce Marketing, and MAX. They do have an option for free, called GetResponse Free, for those who have below 500 subscribers and send up to 2,500 newsletters in a month. Worth noticing, however, is that "removed" contacts still count toward your limit-subscription limits include those you have removed, unsubscribed, and bounced-so you will likely need to upgrade to at least a paid plan fairly quickly.
They immediately bring them in on a trial basis and introduce them right away to premium features for 30 days. Once they are past the 30-day period, they let one have very limited use on their free plan.
Its prices are right about middle compared with other email marketing software. If you need marketing automation or e-commerce features, things scale up relatively fast.
Inside, it contains two plans: 'Max' and 'Max2'. It will fit those companies whose needs extend to the most advanced enterprise level. For more details, please refer to the GetResponse pricing page.
Pros and Cons
Pros
List automation
More powerful than most tools, GetResponse's list automation allows you to add a range of conditions to help segment your subscriber list automatically.
Design and spam testing
Both useful and easy to use, this can often be a feature that either costs a bomb, or just plain doesn't work. GetResponse got it right.
Conversion Funnel and landing page feature
Pros that come with GetResponse are many, but one of the most outstanding is the Conversion Funnel. This feature provides lead generation through the creation of sales funnels and landing pages in any desired area of your business. This addition makes it a great tool for running e-commerce sites to promote webinars and other events.
Live chat
GetResponse very recently introduced their feature of live chat. This is a nice inclusion, for the integrating of this feature on your site means that you will never miss out on a new lead. The mobile app means that you are able to answer questions on the go.
Google and social media ads feature
You can create and monitor your Google, Facebook, and Instagram ads directly from your GetResponse account.
Powerful marketing features on the free plan
Although the contact and send limits are pretty low on the free plan. You can also create and host a single landing page, with a 1000-visitor monthly cap, and you get image galleries, popups, and sign-up forms.
Cons
Email automation locked to higher-tier plans This does make GetResponse a bit more expensive, like Brevo, because you need to be at least on the Marketing Automation plan to even build marketing automation workflows.
Support: Generally positive; a few hiccups Normally they clear all our queries with a smile and in quick time using live chat, but there were few instances when we were not quite happy with the treatment our query received.
Is GetResponse the right newsletter service for you?
Recommended if:
You want to capture leads Probably a few of the newsletter tools we reviewed that is really built for inbound marketing: flexible sign-up forms, their basic landing page editor, Google Analytics integration, and advanced automation for segmentation and e-mails allow capturing and nurturing new leads. And on top of that, it's even possible to host live and on-demand webinars with them.
With its Conversion Funnel feature, you can do all the above in an organized manner and easily keep track of where's converting best.
You're an e-commerce
Being an online store owner, with GetResponse, you have a bunch of features that'll help you drive more sales: integrations with platforms like Magento and Shopify, abandoned cart campaigns, dynamic email content, sales tracking.
It makes AI product recommendations, which are based on the analysis of behavior, preferences, needs, and habits of every website visitor.
You will be able to use GetResponse's Conversion funnel feature, where you set up your ecommerce site and begin running your sales funnels using landing pages, social media campaigns, webinars, and a whole lot more.
You need sophisticated automation.
Impressed by the workflow builder, included on higher-tier plans, which lets one set up automations for a whole range of actions, from sending emails and assigning lead scores through to contact tagging, segmentation, and data updates.
You need detailed reports
With GetResponse, you get an extremely deep dive into your data on everything from contacts right through to newsletters and automations. The new interface is clean and really well designed.
Not recommended if:
You must have good deliverability rates.
Deliverability should be a key consideration when considering any email marketing strategy. As far as our deliverability tests go, there is certainly room for improvement in GetResponse's performance, although they have really upped the ante in recent times, coming third out of fifteen providers in our January 2024 test.
Top Features:
Ecommerce Tools
GetResponse allows for seamless integrations with leading ecommerce platforms, including Magento, Prestashop, Shopify, and many more, directly from within the system.
Now, it has a dedicated section related to ecommerce tools, which houses your online stores, orders, transactional emails, and promo codes.
Promo Codes
You can use the same promo codes you are used to using on your existing ecommerce platform. These can be added directly to your newsletters or automation messages from the drag and drop email builder.
Segmentation
Advanced segmentation means you can create ultra-targeted marketing campaigns based on customer purchases, order history and behaviour on sites.
Conditions relate to geolocation, tags, lead scoring, lead magnets, conversion funnels amongst others and events. No other email marketing software provides half as many options.
Product Recommender
The product recommendations feature allows you to show your recipients the products relevant to them, making cross-selling and upselling a breeze. We found this feature super user-friendly and liked the fact that recommendations based on could be sent:
All purchases within my store
Customer purchase history-Individual Customer
GetResponse Marketing Automation for Ecommerce
Besides the very important abandoned cart automation, GetResponse gives its users a plethora of ready ecommerce automation templates. For example: retarget customer with offers based on his tags, promote a course or products, reward loyal customers based on their engagement level, etc.

:Conversion Funnel
Having so many features in one place means that you can even build an entire sales funnel with GetResponse. In fact, it has a dedicated area called 'Conversion Funnel'.
Here, you will have over 30 conversion-optimized scenarios to sell, build contact lists, showcase your offers, promote your products and events, etc.
Here is an example of the sales funnel for selling a product:
Inside the conversion funnel dashboard, you'll have 'Lead Magnets'. These will be used to offer some sort of free resource that visitors can download from a signup page. We might include a free guide to email marketing for beginners in our blog articles.
What's more, GetResponse has an actual library of ready-to-download pre-made assets you can give away with your lead magnets. In this way, you will not need to create any content yourself. However, I would recommend taking that content as an example and making it your own for your business. What is being offered is pretty centered on digital marketing, which probably isn't the majority's focus.
This is a rather unique feature to GetResponse, and the best part is that you can access the lead magnets feature on the lower-tier Email Marketing plan. Those wanting to create complete sales funnels will need to upgrade to at least the Marketing Automation plan.
GetResponse Autoresponders
To make it even better, GetResponse has made its Autoresponder feature available under its Email Marketing plan. This professional-level email marketing tool lets you automate your email replies for maximum user engagement.
You can set up autoresponders for a variety of actions that can vary from a simple confirmation email to new subscribers, discounts, and product offers, among other follow-up emails for marketing purposes. These are action-based responses that are engaged through sign-ups, clicks, sales, birthdays, etc. You can also set up time-based responses; for example, a "Thank You" email on the first day of subscription, with a newsletter containing a special offer or discount code a few days later, and perhaps a product newsletter the week after. You can set this up as part of a sequence so that the various emails are automatically sent out to each user in turn.
What you can't do is setting event-based or product automations. You also aren't going to split your automations or send abandoned cart emails. That's left for the higher-tier plans.
Abandoned Cart
Recently, GetResponse added a new condition called "abandoned carts" to the workflow options of marketing automation. This enables you to segment contacts who have abandoned a purchase and send them an automated message which may feature promotional codes for encouraging purchases.
Discount codes can also be used in your welcome email to new contacts and to reward your loyal customers.
GetResponse Mobile App
The GetResponse email marketing app is extremely easy to use and really useful for email marketers and eCommerce business owners on the go. With their mobile app, you have the ability to monitor the performance of your email campaigns. It includes basic stats such as open rate, click-through rate, etc.
In terms of the contact management features, you can also keep track of your subscriber list growth, view subscriber locations, edit basic contact info, add new contacts, manage user tags, and more.
Newsletter creation is also possible; you can duplicate an existing message or create a new plain text email. Send these out directly from the app.
In addition to these email marketing tools, you can also manage ecommerce tools and statistics, such as product sales and orders, revenue, and more.
GetResponse Migration Services
Migration to GetResponse is relatively simple, as it provides migration services. Guided by their support team, they will migrate up to 10 elements, including email templates, automation, forms, and so on, along with your contacts to their platform.
All you need to do is create a free account, fill in a short survey about your needs, book a discovery call, and voilà, where their team will present a detailed plan.
What really helps GetResponse stand out is the hands-on support they offer for migrating those tricky items, like automations and templates, that few ESPs do. On top of that, they include a deliverability consultation with your account, including an assisted IP warm-up to help you land in inboxes after switching.
GetResponse Deliverability
During our last check-up, it managed to gain a good result: third out of fifteen providers. Hopefully, we'll get to see this sort of score-and even better-in the future. They also managed to get a 100% deliverability rate to Yahoo, Outlook, Hotmail, and AOL inboxes.
:Conclusion
In my humble opinion, this GetResponse review has proved one thing-that amongst all the marketing software out there, this is the one that truly delivers the goods. It manages to provide both the features and ease of use that most other newsletter tools lack. Besides that, we have also noticed great automation mechanisms for list management and its flexible and intuitive automation workflows.
While the editor can be a little fiddly when performing certain tasks, their templates are responsive and good enough to create something useful. Using GetResponse is made a bit easier by offering an app for iOS and Android, which allows you not only to track but also to send newsletters and answer live chats on the go.
GetResponse is surely doing something right, with a big list of powerful features ranging from landing pages to webinars. Although it would be great to see its deliverability rates rise a bit, by and large, GetResponse scores very well on most other factors.
Getresponse arguably has enough diversity to do just about all you would want regarding small business email marketing and could form an important part of your general email marketing strategy.
Were very glad to see that GetResponse recently introduced a free forever plan among its options.
:FAQ
Does GetResponse comply with the GDPR? Where do they host their data?
Our review indicates that GetResponse is in compliance with the GDPR. I underline "currently" because, while its servers are located in the United States and the European Union, more information about that is available here.
The US is a so-called third-party state for the EU, meaning that transfers of user data to the US are possible only when there is a similar level of data protection. Equivalence currently is recognized under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
But as history has shown, such agreements are rapidly torn away-which might pose a problem in case you depend on GDPR compliance.
If you move onto one of GetResponse's Max plans-which is their enterprise tier-you can opt to have the data for your users hosted only in the EU, in which case you can avoid all these issues.
The interesting side-note is that GetResponse is based in Poland, which is indeed an EU member state.
How Is My Data Protected?
GetResponse does provide an "Agreement on Data Processing". The form is based on the Polish data protection policies; after all, GetResponse does have its seat in Poland.
Due to the EU unification of rules governing data protection, the Polish rules are likely to be very similar to the strict ones you might know from other EU countries such as Germany or France. More information on data protection.
What is GetResponse used for?
An all-in-one email marketing platform is GetResponse. You may construct complex automations and sales funnels in addition to creating an email newsletter.
Is GetResponse a CRM?
Some contact management tools are available through GetResponse, such as automated segmentation, site and event tracking, and contact tagging and scoring. But if you're searching for a complete CRM, have a look at these small company options.
Is GetResponse legit?
The email marketing solution offered by GetResponse to small businesses is 100% legitimate. It provides a safe approach to manage your subscribers and securely maintains your client data.
Does GetResponse offer a discount to NGO's?
Yes, they give NGOs a huge 50% discount.
